Lebo Legwale grew up in Pimville, Soweto just outside Johannesburg. With over 11 years in the property industry, she not only brings a wealth of experience to her appointment as Centre Manager at the Futuregrowth Community Property Fund’s Heidelberg Mall, but an abundance of energy and passion!
Lebo currently lives in Honeydew, Johannesburg, some 80km from Heidelberg Mall, where she lives with her 18-year old daughter, Kutlwano. When the Futuregrowth Community Property Fund acquired Heidelberg Mall in December 2017, Lebo was working as the Marketing Manager for the centre, and was later promoted to Centre Manager.
Lebo started her property career in 2008 as Personal Assistant to the CEO and Marketing Director at Finlay and Associates, when she was “bitten by the bug” and has never looked back. Her curiosity about the industry pushed her to learn and grow. She moved to Purple Plum Brand
Communications, where she started as a Junior Account Executive and worked her way up to Promotions Manager at Trade Route Mall. During her years at Purple Plum, she served as the Marketing Manager for Balfour Mall (managed by Broll/Investec), Woodmead Retail Park (under Growthpoint) Trade Route Mall (owned and managed by the Valli’s and Mia’s), and was heavily involved in the launch of Letlhabile Mall in Brits.
“It is a great feeling to be a part of the vision of a company that is involved in the change for good.”
In 2015, Lebo worked on the Nelson Mandela Square (Sandton City) Redevelopment project as a Project Marketing and Communications Manager under Primedia Lifestyle. On completion of the project, she moved back to Balfour Mall as the Marketing Manager under Mustard Seed Relationship Marketing. In 2017, she was offered the position of in-house Marketing Manager at Heidelberg Mall.
Lebo’s day-to-day responsibilities are diverse and require much multi-tasking, which she handles with ease and always with a big smile. She is responsible for overall management of the mall, motivating and holding the team together, liaising with the tenants and customers, managing the relationship with the local community and other relevant local stakeholders and acting as the daily liaison with the various head office departments at Capital Land Property Asset Management.
Since the acquisition, Lebo has embraced the Corporate Social Investment programmes wholeheartedly, and loves working for a company that prioritises the needs of the communities in which it operates.
