Cipiwa Chivheke, a 41 year old mother of two from Katlehong has worked at Sontonga Mall since April 2016.

She sells products such as jewellery, cosmetics and fashion accessories on behalf of Naeem Akhtar. Naeem owns a curtain shop in Katlehong, and identified the opportunity to boost his income through selling sought after affordable products at Sontonga Mall.

As he works at the curtain shop during the week, he employed Cipiwa to manage his promotion at Sontonga Mall. She reports that her lipsticks and nail polish are very popular and sought after by students and business ladies alike. She says very few ladies pass her stall without looking at or buying one of these products. Ladies in the community have even started placing orders with her for specific colours.

Cipiwa was previously employed as a domestic worker and says that the change in employment has positively impacted her from a financial stand point and has immensely increased her job satisfaction.
